Team Philosophy
Gymnasts are dedicated athletes working towards a connection between body and mind that far exceeds the execution of advanced skills. It is in the nature of the sport for gymnasts to face and overcome huge obstacles: fear, pain, progressive levels of difficult skills, disappointment, and frustration. It is through these obstacles that gymnasts gain tremendous life lessons that will stick with them forever…
• Self discipline (knowing what work has to be done in order to achieve a goal)
• Time Management (time is a valuable commodity to be used wisely)
• Respect (for teammates, coaches, apparatus and danger)
• Sportsmanship (playing by the rules, learning to win and lose with grace)
• Dedication (staying focused on their goals)
• Patience (many skills require a long time to learn and much practice)
• Leadership
• Concentration
• Team Work
• Friendship
• Nutrition and Physical Fitness
Here at IRGA athletes compete USAG levels 5 and up. Levels 5 and 6 are the compulsory levels (everyone competes the same routine). Levels 7 and up are optional levels which differ from the compulsory levels in that each student is able to choose from a variety of skills that highlight and showcase their individual strengths.
Students in our team programs have been selected from our pre-school and recreational classes based on individual achievements, self-discipline, and desire. IRGA team programs run on an invitation only basis.
